About St. Petersburg

To many people, St Petersburg evokes an image of great architecture and a vibrant cultural life, home to famous poets and artists, and picturesque rivers and canals; a city of museums, concert halls and bridges.

St Petersburg is untypical of Russian city’s being the closest to Europe, yet uniquely mixes in with Russia’s old traditions.

To help you get a ‘feel’ of St Petersburg on your first visit, here are some suggestions of special things you could experience while staying at the Apricot Hostel in St. Petersburg:

- Walk along the Nevsky Prospekt and quiet streets around.
- Go inside the courtyards of old houses.
- Walk along Moika river embankment in the evening
- Take a boat trip along the canals.
- Visit the Hermitage, but not all at once. It is so vast, it is better to choose something specific you might be interested in and to go especially for that.
- Climb up St.Isaac cathedral for a view across the city
- Have a delicious Russian traditional meal in one the popular, atmospheric restaurants nearby
- Go to a bar or club
- Learn about the city’s history and architecture on a city walk with an English-speaking guide
(ask at Apricot reception).
- Take part in weekly social events arranged by the Apricot Hostel
